I find that I am most interested and attuned to the subtext; that which lurks beneath the surface of peoples relationships with each other and with themselves. A desire to examine the human psyche, the process of becoming and its physical manifestation in the human face and body is divulged in my paintings of people. These figures, whether real or imagined, are often engaged in an internal emotional experience which can be interpreted in different ways. Their physical space is intentionally ambiguous in an attempt to create an open narrative and to engage the viewer in questions of meaning.
